We recommended to use 80% of the load so the moving part from the engine will not be strained much and the current alternator will not get damaged.

Reliability 

In our experience a diesel generator should not be used for more than 12 hrs max without break in-between but the 62.5 kva CPCB 2 version Ashok Leyland ran for 23 hrs per day for 25 day period for pumping out the ground water for a government project at a seashore near Chennai. the one hour break was for fuel top up indeed. all that two months the Generator performed without any trouble like heating up, vibration, break down or power supply issues. we were amazed by its integrity and performance.
